ARTS AND PERFORMANCE OUTREACH

Peformance - whether poetry, drama, mime or whatever - is a very effective way of getting our message across. We see it as a particularly good way on engaging children and young people, in learning about and preparing for a low oil, low carbon society. It is, after all, their future, and if we can inspire young people they will tell their parents!

Ignoring some very dodgily re-worded carols sung at the 2009 year end party, our first exciting venture in this direction is a collaboration with Funny Wonders Puppetry, and we are keen to recruit a group of people to carry this forward.

Funny Wonders have a very good track-record locally, creating music in shadow theatre (MIST). In our callaborative venture, young people will be creating a MIST performance with shadow puppets they make thenselves to tell the story of climate change and peak oil in a fun way.  Not only will this be valuable for the young people concerned (and their mentors) but it will create a performance to engage young audiences (and their parents).
