fruit trees
Fairfield Junior School have space for 6 to 8 fruit trees - confirmation awaited, but we may be able to plant 4 or 5 near the playground, and 2 or 3 big standards out the front (a strong risk they'll get vandalised, but if they don't any fruit will be accessible to all). Thanks to Katrina Stein for meeting me, and for your positivity.
Christ Church in Burbage also has a large area of unconsecrated ground that can accommodate around 17 trees. Many thanks to Rev John Hudghton & Joyce Alright.
I hope still to discuss planting in the infant school in Fairfield next week.
This means we should be able to plant all the trees originally intended for the Temple Fields site, which has been delayed pending a council review on policy with respect to Community Orchards.
Anyone living in Temple Ward is encouraged to contact your councillor to voice your support for the Temple Field orchard. http://www.highpeak.gov.uk/contact/profiles/thrane.asp

Fairfield Infants School
I paid a visit to the infant school & met Mrs Coackley (head) who showed me a number of potential planting sites around the grounds.
I've now looked through the trees we've ordered and have allocated them thus:
6 each to the junior & infant schools in Fairfield, and 12 for the church grounds in Burbage. The latter will be planted with great pomp & ceremony on Saturday 5th March, starting at 10.30am. Maybe Derek will bring along some of his (in)famous cider with which to toast the new orchard? or is that too pagan for a churchyard?
The school tree planting hopefully will engage some parents & tearaways in a couple of weeks.
