I can't change the world on my own, it'll take at least six of us...

The Transition Buxton Steering group was, like most Transition intiative steering groups, a temporary thing. The aim was for the various sub-groups (food, transport, energy etc.) to fledge, to grow and to develop their own meaningful projects. This is now starting to happen, and the original Steering Group was therefore dissolved at the first AGM in August 2010. We are confident that the enthusiasm generated by a few successful projects will create a tidal wave of activity, as the people of Buxton all join in, and sweep the town to a bright, resilient future. Yo!

So instead of the Steering Group we now have a Co-ordinating Group, whose role is to ... co-ordinate; to encourage and assist the groups as needed; to help find people to work on the various projects and encourage new working groups to form; to make sure the various groups aren't working at cross-purposes; to let everyone in transition know what is going on. We also see ourselves as having a general awareness rainsing function as incredible though it may see, there are still an awful lot of people who don't yet see the need for urgent action.

See who is on the co-ordinating group here.
