FUN WITH FABRICS - HAND SEWN PATCHWORK
THURSDAY 28TH FEBRUARY, 7:30-9:30PM
CENTRAL BUXTON

This is the first of a series of workshops that will teach you the basic skills to make and repair a whole range of fabric and textile items.

Hand sewn patchwork is suitable for beginners as well as those who already sew. Learn English pieced patchwork and a 'quilt as you go' technique. Bring some lightweight cotton type fabric and a basic sewing kit if you have them, but don’t worry if you don’t. Make a pot stand or start a quilt to finish at home.

Later sessions will include:
7th March, 7:30-9:30pm - Darning, Knitting, Crochet, Repair
If you have something knitted that needs repair, bring it along and learn how to make it good to go. Or if you want to learn the basics of knitting or crochet, come along and we’ll get you going.

14th March, 7:30-9:30pm - Rag Rugs
Learn how to make a cosy or useful rug from scraps, using methods our ancestors used to keep their toes off the chill floors. It’s very simple and satisfying. Bring some old colourful tee shirts to use, and get something started to finish at home.

21st March, 7:30-9:30pm - Revamp & Repair
Bring an item of clothing that needs mending or altering and we will help you to do it. There will be a couple of sewing machines, learn how to use one. We will also have ideas and inspiration for revamping clothing that you’re tired of - challenge us!

4th April, 1:30-3:30pm - Accesorize!
Have fun turning scraps and waste packaging into bags, hats, wallets, belts and other accessories. No sewing required. A fun thing to do with the kids in the Easter holidays - but all children must bring their own adult!

Then after Easter, dates still to be confirmed
Sew Useful ! - A fun session where you can make a tea cosy or other useful item for your home. We will use only basic sewing techniques. Bring fabric and sewing kit if you have it, or just bring yourself.
Basic Pattern Making - We come in all shapes and sizes but patterns don't! Make a pattern for a simple garment or adjust a pattern to fit you perfectly.
And maybe more afterthat ... watch this space.

You don't need to attend every session, just come to the ones that interest you. Numbers are limited though, so you do need to book your place - call 077 696 27133 or email Penny for more information.

ALL SESSIONS ARE FREE, but we are happy to accept donations.
