Buxton Green Assembly: our town, our planet, our future

We are pleased to play an important role in this year’s climate event for our town’s children and young people. We started providing a climate conference for schools in 2021 and they have since been an annual occurrence in Buxton. Last year we also took part in the additional Climate Inset event for Buxton teaching teams. This year gives local families an opportunity to experience similar activities and connect with organisations who are making our town and planet a better place for their children’s future.

The children of 6 Buxton schools start their half term holiday on this date as it is an inset day for their teachers. Parents and other relatives or carers are encouraged to bring children to have fun with a range of activities. It is also a chance for us to chat to adults about our Transition Buxton (TB) projects and see how they might like to benefit from what we do, or to get involved. Our secondary schools and other primary schools will be bringing student groups as usual, and it is likely we will get some family visitors from further afield.

Our projects that we are showcasing on the day are:

• Buxton Library of Things in their usual home on Kents Bank Road
• Renewable Energy in the Assembly Rooms
• Upcycling fabric into Halloween costumes in the Assembly Rooms
• Plastic Free Buxton in the Assembly Rooms
• Our Orchards around town
