Our first Stitch Don’t Ditch sewing workshop

Our first Stitch Don’t Ditch sewing workshop on 20 May went really well. Everyone learned something new and most went home with something they’d created using waste materials. The volunteers were really pleased to support several people to progress projects they’d brought along for advice, learning rag rugging proved popular, one complete novice made her first cloth bag and went home with a 2nd one cut out ready to show her daughter how to do it, and Shanna made some beautiful double sided bunding to hang on her fireplace.

We will definitely do some more workshops like this as well as more clothes swaps. There seems to be genuine thirst out there for sewing skills to mend, alter, and upcycle our textiles.
