About Transition Buxton

Q: Why should we care?
A: Because climate change and depleting resources will make our lives increasingly difficult … unless we start to change the way we live now.

The idea of Transition is for people to work together with others on projects that will help the community to thrive as we adapt to new ways of living within the capacity of our natural resources and climate change.

Anyone who lives or works in Buxton and the surrounding catchment area can be a member of Transition Buxton CIC

The Big Buxton Conversation

What if everything turned out okay? What would Buxton look and feel like in 2030? How can we create the future that we need and want?
As every passenger-seat navigator knows, if you don’t know where you want to go, it’s hard to plot the best route to get there. Please join us for The Big Buxton Conversation on Saturday 24th April for a journey through time from where we are now (What is), to your imagined Buxton in 2030 (What if), to reveal the choices and changes we need to start making now (What next) to create the future Buxton that we deserve.
Over the day, our talented live sketch artist, Jenny Leonard will create a visual representation of our journey before our very eyes. There’ll be plenty of breaks, engaging exercises and a spot of time travel. The day will whiz by despite being via zoom!
Everyone who lives, works, studies, owns a property, or runs a business in Buxton is invited to join the Big Buxton Conversation. We hope to welcome 100 Buxtonians. No preparation is required, all you need to bring is
an open mind.
Please put the date in your diary, and register via Eventbrite here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/141532981959
Please share this information widely to encourage lots of people from across Buxton to participate in this important community conversation.

Transition Buxton held an internal version of this conversation and you can read a review by clicking here.
